Sno has evolved into a genuine blacksmith and ironmonger: the real deal. Lest we forget, a blacksmith is a person who makes and repairs things with iron, by hand, and the term ironmongery refers to the manufacture of iron goods, as well as to the place of sale of such items for domestic, rather than industrial, use. We love the way he up-cycles all manner of otherwise discarded and common-place objects. He brings them together in surprising ways, to present a whole new meaning.
Sno's road-side display is a striking addition to the experience of driving into the village of Learmonth, on the Sunraysia Highway in Victoria's Central Highlands, the first stop on route to the Pyrenees wine region. It's the sort of visual welcome to a country community that makes a very special statement. Sno is a talented maker indeed, and does accept private commissions.
